The Kolkata based Varsha Fabrics Private Limited (VFPL) has sought more time from the Orissa government to sort out the issues relating to the functioning of the Hirakud Industrial Works (HIW) and the IDCOL Rolling Mill.
Though a meeting of the committee constituted to negotiate with the company officials for the settlement of the legitimate claims of the employees was convened on 29 October, the officials of VFPL could not attend it.
The committee headed by secretary, public enterprise department took note of the faxed message sent by the company seeking 10 to 12 days more time and allowed the same. Since the presence of the senior company officials in the meeting was considered vital, it decided to allow the required time to VFPL, official sources said.
