To increase its post-paid subscriber base and to drive data consumption, the country's second largest cellular operator Vodafone India, on Wednesday, launched a tariff plan - Vodafone Red starting at Rs 499.

According to the company, the advantage of the plan is that under these plans consumers can use multiple devices and family connections which can be interchangeably used between users.

Vodafone will also give its safety applications, including parental control and password keeper along with the Red plans. The new plan also has a special offer for enterprise customers that provides free calling between a closed user group, free minutes for voice usage and also bundled free data limits.

According to Vodafone, an internal study has suggested that 50% of its post-paid customers have a 3G-enabled mobile instrument. The company currently has 57.3 million data users and 10 million of them are on the 3G network.

"Higher smartphone penetration and bring your own device (BYOD) concept have changed the modern enterprise and their needs. This initiative is designed to meet these needs. We've packed in flexi-pricing, differentiated service, options to secure devices and a loyalty programme for enhanced benefits," said Naveen Chopra, Director, Vodafone Business Services.
