Gurgaon-based connected car solutions provider Trak N Tell has raised an undisclosed amount of funding from a group of individuals including Brian Acton, co-founder of one of the world's leading instant messaging apps WhatsApp.

The start-up currently offers a product that allows car owners and fleet operators to track and immobilise vehicles in case of theft via their smartphones. Trak N Tell says it's creating more products to improve the safety of passengers in cars and will utilise the capital for hiring and product R&D.

"Our aim is to offer an Indian version of connected cars that are available in Europe and North America. While the quality is in parity with international standards, our prices will be set in accordance to the Indian market," said Pranshu Gupta, CEO of Trak N Tell, in a statement.

Trak N Tell says it sees an increase in consumer interest for connected car products as people begin to demand smarter experiences. Preventive maintenance notifications, fuel consumption monitoring and other solutions can be delivered directly to a user's smartphone, the company says.

"Pranshu has extremely interesting plans for the Indian automotive market and I'm very excited to help him scale his business further as an investor. I'm very pleased with the results of the company to date," said Brian Acton, co-founder of WhatsApp, in a statement.
