Consumer durables firm Whirlpool today posted an 18.26% decline in its net profit at Rs 47.17 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 as compared to the same period previous fiscal.
The company had a net profit of Rs 57.71 crore in the quarter ended March 31, 2010, Whirlpool of India said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.
During the quarter under review, the company's net sales increased by 6.69% to Rs 593.51 crore from Rs 556.29 crore posted in the corresponding quarter previous fiscal.
For the year-ended March 31, 2011, the firm's net profit increased to Rs 166.04 crore from Rs 145.02 crore posted in the previous fiscal.
During the period, Whirlpool had a net sales of Rs 2611.93 crore, up 22.16% from 2137.49 crore in the previous fiscal.
Shares of Whirlpool of India closed at Rs 252.25 on the Bombay Stock Exchange, down 8.54% from the previous close.
