Fame was not new to Meiyappan, who hails from AVM, one of the high profile film and television programmes producing groups in the country. He is the son of A V M Balasubramanian, one of the five sons of A V Meiyappan, who established AVM Productions.

Apart from being the team principal of CSK, he is also the managing director of AVM Productions and Entertainment, AVM Studios and AVM Constructions.

Meiyappan has tried his hand at two other sports - motor racing and golf. According to reports, he is known as 'Prince Gurunath'. People who spoke with him recall a calm person with a genuine smile occasionally but tough when it comes to taking decisions.

Earlier, talking to The Hindu, he said: "We play to win but want to do so in the right fashion. We were guided by what we wanted, while keeping an eye on the rest of the franchises."

While his father, grandfather and father-in-law attracted public attention with their fame, Meiyappan kept away from the eyes of media to a large extent.

In the previous interactions. During CSK events, he has been calm and has been giving straight and crisp answers.
