After the recent round of restructuring at Wipro, the company has said it has inducted four new members into its group executive council. The new members include Abid Ali Neemuchwala, the newly-appointed group president and chief operating officer (COO); and Anand Padmanabhan, chief executive and president of the energy & utilities business unit.

The group executive council is a forum comprising Wipro’s core group of senior leaders. It deliberates and frames strategies in line with the company’s long-term vision.

G K Prasanna, chief executive of global infrastructure services and Bhanumurthy B M, chief executive of business application services, who were recently promoted as presidents of their respective business units, have also been inducted to the group executive council.

“The group executive council carries the charter of providing thought leadership across the Wipro group and is the driving force behind shaping its strategic priorities. These leaders bring with them a rich global experience and we are confident their induction will bring more plurality of ideas and add more heft to the deliberations of the council,” said Azim Premji, chairman of Wipro and non-executive chairman of Wipro Enterprises.

In the recent round of restructuring at Wipro last month, said to be the one of the largest since 2011, both Prasanna and Bhanumurthy were promoted as presidents. The company also created a position of group president and COO and inducted former Tata Consultancy Services business process outsourcing unit head Neemuchwala to the post.

Including the present inductions, Wipro has 10 members in the council, including Premji and T K Kurien, chief executive of Wipro. Pratik Kumar, chief executive of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering; Vineet Agrawal, chief executive of Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting; Anurag Behar, chief sustainability officer of Wipro; and Terri Bresenham, managing director of Wipro GE Healthcare are the other members.

After the demerger of its non-information technology business as the unlisted Wipro Enterprises, Wipro group has three companies in its fold, including Wipro GE Healthcare, in which the group has 49 per cent stake.
