Worldspace, Tara in Bengali radio pact

Kolkata is the tenth market to be serviced

Worldspace Satellite Radio has tied up with Bengali radio channel 'Tara' for the Kolkata market.
 
Speaking at the launch of Worldspace in Kolkata, Arti Metha, chief marketing officer said the radio would offer more than 40 channels of digital quality programming.
 
The Indian programming includes two Indian classical channels""Shruti and Gandharv.
 
In the regional language channels space, apart from Tara, Worldspace has tied up with KL Radio (Tamil), Sparsha (Kannada), RM Radio (Malayalam), Spandana (Telugu) and Tunak Punjabi (Punjabi).
 
Kolkata is the tenth market to be serviced by Worldspace in India.
 
The satellite radio sets would be available at leading stores.
 
They would be priced between Rs 1,999 and Rs 8,100.
 
Metha said, Kolkata had a population of 11 million and approximately six million consumers fell into the targeted listener base of Worldspace.
 
To ensure that service was readily available to subscribers of West Bengal, Worldspace Satellite radios were available in over 25 retail outlets with more expected by the end of the quarter.
