YES Bank rejigs organizational structure

Retail business head Pralay Mondal get addl charge of Commercial Business Banking; Rajanish Prabhu to lead bank's entry into credit cards

Private sector YES Bank has overhauled its organisational structure to lay special emphasis on the retail and the small & medium enterprises (SME) business.

With this in view, it has assigned an additional portfolio to Pralay Mondal, current head of retail business to head the commercial business banking segment as well.  The bank said this segment has a  annual turnover of Rs 100-500 crore and focuses on medium enterprises and rural banking. Prior to this, Mondal was only responsible for branch banking, business banking (small enterprises) and retail.

Before joining YES Bank, Mondal was with HDFC Bank, the country’s second largest private lender. The bank has  now hired two more executives from HDFC Bank, to head its credit card and branch service delivery segments.

The bank plans to enter  the credit card segment in first quarter of the next financial year. To lead this segment, it has hired Rajanish Prabhu, who has joined as senior president and national head, credit cards business. The other executive to join from HDFC Bank is Ratan Kesh, who will be the senior president and country head, branch service delivery, contact centre and service excellence.

Apart from expanding the unsecured lending segment, the bank will also be laying more focus on the home loan product offerings in the affordable housing segment. It also said its focus on gathering low-cost deposits also remain steady.

“Mobilisation of granular liabilities nationwide continues to be top priority. The bank has planned expansion of its network to 1,500 branches by March 31, 2018 and 2,500 by March 31, 2020. This will significantly augment retail/CASA deposit mobilisation and consumer SME lending activities,” YES Bank said in a release.

The lender has also set up a dedicated rural and inclusive branch channel to enhance business acquisition and servicing of farmer finance, tractor equipment finance business etc.

For this, it has appointed Mani Ayyar, senior president, will be the rural and inclusive (Rurban) branch banking head. On the other hand, the urban branch banking business will be managed by Narendra Dixit, branch banking head, north & east, and Akshay Sapru, branch banking head, west & south.

Another overhaul includes Kapil Juneja who is currently heading only liabilities and retail asset operations & currency chest operations but will now assume the entire responsibility of liability operations, retail asset operations and city processing centres.

“The changes which embody the Bank's design driven innovation frameworks, will maximise internal synergies as these businesses further scale-up over the next five years,” the bank added in its statement.
