Drug maker Zandu Pharmaceutical Works today announced a net profit of Rs 7.97 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009, up more than seven-fold over the corresponding period a year ago.
The company had earned a net profit Rs 1.13 crore during the same period last year, Zandu Pharmaceutical Works informed the Bombay Stock Exchange in a regulatory filing.
Total income increased to Rs 38.34 crore in the quarter under review from Rs 28.88 crore in the same quarter last fiscal, it said.
For the year ended March 31, 2009, net profit of the company rose to Rs 26.18 crore from Rs 16.40 crore in the previous year.
Total income of the company jumped up to Rs 165.51 crore in the year under review from Rs 137.23 crore in FY08.
Shares of the company closed at Rs 8,181.70, marginally down from the previous close on the BSE.
