2014 IPL Auction: Yuvraj goes for Rs 14 cr, Pietersen for Rs 9 cr

Jayawardene and Dilshan go unsold at base price of Rs 2 cr

The two day player auctions for the 2014 edition of the Indian Premier League has begun today.

The auction has started on a competitive note with Royal Challengers Bangalore buying Yuvraj Singh for Rs 14 cr while Delhi Daredevils using the right of first refusal to retain big hitter Kevin Pietersen for Rs 9 cr. Among other big players at the auction are Dinesh Karthik who got sold to Delhi Daredevils for Rs 12.5 crore.

Eight franchisees are bidding for 514 players with Rs 274 cr as the total available purse.
 
Delhi Daredevils has also bought Murali Vijay for Rs 5 crore.
 
Virendra Sehwag who has been Delhi's mainstay has been sold to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 3.2 cr. Mitchell Johnson was bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 6.5 crore while Jacques Kallis was bought by KKR for Rs 5.5 crore.
 
Mahela Jayawardene and Tillakaratne Dilshan went unsold with no takers. Both of theirs base price was Rs 2 cr. New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum was bought by Chennai Super Kings for Rs 3.25 crore. Australian batsmen Michael Hussey and Aaron Finch were bought for Rs 5 crore and Rs 4.75 crore respectively.

Indian pace bowler Zaheer Khan was sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 2.6 crore.

Cheteshwar Pujara was bought by Kings XI Punjab for Rs 1.75 crore through Right to Match.

Robin Uthappa was bought by KKR for Rs. 5 crore.

Brad Hodge was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 2.40 crore.

Manoj Tiwary was bought by Delhi Daredevils for Rs 2.8 crore.

Wayne Smith was bought by CSK for Rs 4.5 crore.

Ishant Sharma was sold for Rs 2.6 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad while the same team bought Bhuvaneshwar Kumar for Rs 4.25 crore.

Indian spin bowler Piyush Chawla has been picked up by by KKR for Rs 4.25 crore while his counterpart Pragyan Ojha was retained by Mumbai Indians for Rs 3.25 crore.
