Karnataka Janatha Party (KJP) formed by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa is planning an action plan to prevent chief minister Jagadish Shettar from presenting an election oriented populist budget.

“We are holding an executive committee meeting on January 4 to come out with an action plan to bring down the BJP government in the state. All my supporters are asking me to topple Shettar government during my recent statewide visit. We will take a suitable decision in this regard,” Yeddyurappa said.

Yeddyurappa quit BJP in November last year and formally launched his new party, KJP at a public rally on December 9, 2012. The party would contest on its own to all the assembly constituencies in the forthcoming elections and is confident of forming government independently, he said.

Talking to reporters here, Yeddyurappa said, “Shettar is preparing to present the budget on February 8. He does not have majority and confidence of all members in the assembly. He should refrain from presenting the state budget.”

He said ever since he resigned as chief minister of first BJP government in the state in July 2011, Karnataka’s ranking has slipped down on many parameters.

He held his successors D V Sadananda Gowda and Jagadish Shettar for ignoring several developmental activities in the state and the state is now at 11th position in development.

Yeddyurappa said more many MLAs and ministers in Shettar cabinet would resign en masse very soon without giving the exact number of followers. He said he would restart his statewide campaign from January 7, 2013 to enroll about 2.5 million members into his month-old political party.
