The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that the admit cards of the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) next National Eligibility Test (NET) examination will be available on its official website on December 21, 2016. The exam has been scheduled for January 22, 2017.

Steps to download admit card
Candidates can download their admit cards from the official website. To download CBSE UGC NET January 2017 exam admit card
1. Log on to the official website of CBSE UGC NET, cbsenet.nic.in
2. Click on the link “Click here to download admit card for UGC NET January 2017 exam”
3. Enter details on the login page such as registration number, password or date of birth, etc.
4. Click on the “Login/Submit” button to get the admit card
5. Download and save the admit card
6. Take a printout
According to the official notification, candidates will not be allowed to appear in the exam without a printed hard copy of the admit card. They also have to carry along a valid ID proof (original and photocopy), and a passport sized photograph to the exam hall.

The test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will comprise only objective type questions and held in three separate sessions:
Paper I is intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. 60 (sixty) multiple choice questions of 2 marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be required to answer any 50 (fifty). In the event of the candidate attempted more than 50 questions, the first 50 questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.
Paper II includes 50 objective-type compulsory questions based on the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. Paper-III will comprise 75 objective type compulsory questions from the subject selected by the candidate. Each question will carry 2 marks. All the questions of Paper II and Paper III will be compulsory, covering entire syllabus (including all electives, without options).
The candidate will have to mark the responses for questions of Paper I, Paper II and Paper III on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided along with the test booklet. The detailed instructions for filling up the OMR sheet are given on page 17 and 18. It may be noted that these instructions to candidates will not be sent to any of the candidate by post.
Results
The result of the UGC-NET to be held on will be made available on the websites www.cbsenet.nic.in as and when it is declared. The candidate will not be individually intimated about their result.
The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for whole time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them.
