Congress, an ally of the Trinamool Congress-led West Bengal government, on Thursday welcomed the developmental steps being taken by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the junglemahal area.

"We welcome the steps being taken by the chief minister to improve the economic condition in junglemahal, which was neglected over the years," WBPCC chief Pradip Bhattacharjee told reporters here.

He said the Centre is also assisting the state government by providing funds for various schemes in junglemahal.
