Australian IPL players and support staff might fly off to Maldives in bid to get home

With their country shut for all those flying from India, the now suspended IPL's Australian contingent, comprising players, support staff and commentators, is expected to head to Maldives before taking a connecting flight for home.

 

The IPL was "indefinitely suspended" on Tuesday after multiple cases of Covid-19 emerged from Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, SunRisers Hyderabad and Chennai Super Kings.

15 Maharashtra districts showing decline in Covid-19 cases: State health minister

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday said 15 districts, including Mumbai and Thane, are showing a decline in daily Covid-19 cases, but other districts are still exhibiting an upward trend in the state.

 

He said the government is targeting to reduce the number of coronavirus infections in the districts with high caseload.

 

Tope said the state government was in talks with the manufacturer of Russian vaccine Sputnik V to arrive at a purchase price for the jab.

 

He said the global expression of interest, floated by the state government for vaccine purchase, has received a good response from companies. (PTI)

Himachal Pradesh records 1,332 new coronavirus cases, 23 deaths

Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday recorded 1,332 fresh Covid-19 cases which took the infection tally to 1,08,453, while the death toll rose to 1,622 with 23 more people succumbing to the disease, a senior health official said.

 

There are 21,620 active Covid-19 cases in the state, Special Health Secretary Nipun Jindal said citing the data updated till 2 pm.

 

As many as 1,332 coronavirus patients have recuperated from the infection in a day, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 85,516, the official said. (PTI)
