Uttarakhand reports record 1,637 Covid-19 cases

A record 1,637 people tested positive for Covid-19 in Uttarakhand on Sunday, taking the state's infection tally to 31,973, while 12 more patients died.

Dehradun district reported the highest number of 623 cases, Haridwar 318, Udham Singh Nagar 240, Nainital 211, Pauri 57, Uttarkashi 47, Pithoragarh 34, Champawat 32, Tehri 27, Almora 16, Bageshwar 13, Rudraprayag 12 and Chamoli seven, a state health department bulletin said.

J&K records over 1,000 Covid-19 cases for 11th day

Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday recorded 1,686 fresh cases of Covid-19, while fourteen patients died in the last 24 hours, officials said.

 

The total number of cases has now reached 54,096 and the death toll mounted to 878, they said. It was for the eleventh time in as many days that the number of fresh cases has crossed 1,000 in 24 hours.

 

"The UT recorded 1,686 fresh cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours-- 875 in Jammu and 811 in the Kashmir Valley," the officials said.

Maharashtra's Covid-19 tally on Sunday rose to 1,060,308 after 22,543 fresh cases, a health official said.

 

The state death toll rose to 29,531 with 416 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the official said. So far, 740,061 persons have been discharged, while there are 290,344 cases in the state, he said. The number of tests so far is 5,253,676, he added.

407 new coronavirus cases in Goa, death toll rises by four

Goa on Sunday reported 407 new cases of Covid-19, which pushed the state's infection count to 24,592, a health official said.

 

The virus claimed four more lives in the coastal state during the day, due to which the death toll rose to 290, the official said. With 553 patients recovering from the infection in Goa on Sunday, its recovery count reached 19,129.

 

According to the official, there are 5,173 active cases in the state at present.

 

Goa's Covid-19 figures are as follows: Positive cases 24,592, new cases 407, death toll 290, discharged 19,129, active cases 5,173, samples tested so far 2,25,051.

1,326 new Covid-19 cases in Gujarat, death count rises by 15

With the addition of 1,326 coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, Gujarat's overall tally went up to 1,13,662, the state health department said. With 15 deaths, the fatality count reached 3,213, it said.

 

A total of 1,205 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, taking the number of recovered cases in the state to 94,010, the department said in its release. In the last 24 hours, 68,828 tests were conducted in Gujarat at the rate of 1,058.89 tests per day per million population, the department said.

 

With this, the number of samples tested in the state so far has increased to 32,88,811.

Tripura reports 12 Covid-19 fatalities, 629 new cases

Tripura on Sunday reported record single-day spike of 12 Covid-19 fatalities, which raised the death toll to 194, while 629 fresh cases pushed the tally in the state to 18,932, a senior official said.

 

West Tripura district, of which Agartala is a part, has accounted for 107 of the 194 Covid-19 deaths, he said.

 

Tripura, at present, has 7,584 active coronavirus cases, while 11,132 people have recovered from the disease. Twenty-two patients have migrated to other states.

Meghalaya reports one more Covid-19 death, 109 fresh cases

The Covid-19 death toll in Meghalaya rose to 26 with one more person succumbing to the disease on Sunday, while 109 fresh cases of infection took the state's tally to 3,724, a health department official said.

 

After a 70-year-old man was brought to a private hospital here, doctors declared him brought dead. Test results revealed that he succumbed to coronavirus infection, Health Services director Aman War said.

 

He said that 55 patients were also cured of the disease during the day, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 2,075.

 

The number of active cases in the state is now 1,623.

AP coronavirus tally reaches 5.67 million with 9,536 new cases

The total number of coronavirus cases in Andhra Pradesh touched 5.67 mn on Sunday after about 4.6 mn sample tests were conducted so far, with a positivity rate of 12.33 per cent.

 

The latest Covid-19 bulletin said 10,131 patients had recovered from the infection in 24 hours ending 9 am on Sunday while 9,536 more tested positive.

 

The state recorded 66 more coronavirus deaths, taking the toll to 4,912.

 

Till date, a total of 46.7 mn patients had recovered from the pandemic, leaving 95,072 active cases in the state, the bulletin said.

Delhi records over 4,000 infections reported for 5th straight day

Delhi recorded 4,235 coronavirus cases on Sunday, taking the tally to over 2.18 lakh, while the death toll mounted to 4,744 with 29 new fatalities, authorities said This is the fifth successive day when over 4,000 coronavirus cases were recorded in the national capital.

According to a Delhi government health bulletin issued this evening, 29 fresh fatalities were recorded in the past 24 hours.

A total of 56,656 tests -- 10,116 RT-PCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat and 46,540 rapid antigen tests -- were conducted during the period, it said.

Covid-19: UP CM Adityanath warns against black marketing of oxygen

Amid alleged reports of black marketing and inflated billing for essential medical supplies required for the prevention and treatment of Covid-19, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to curb the black marketing of oxygen at any cost.

 

Presiding over a review meeting in Lucknow, Adityanath asked officials to ensure uninterrupted oxygen availability in the state's Covid-19- designated hospitals with an additional 48 hour oxygen backup inventory even as he said that oxygen production units needed to be operated at optimum capacity. Mask violation fine up from Rs 200 to Rs 500 in Nagpur: Anil Deshmukh

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh said people in Nagpur will be fined Rs 500 instead of Rs 200 from Monday for not wearing masks amid the coronavirus outbreak. Speaking to reporters here, he said all precautions must be taken and social distancing norms have to be followed strictly till such time as a vaccine is developed for Covid- 19.

 

"Despite appeals, many people are not wearing masks. From Monday, the fine here will be Rs 500, up from the current Rs 200," he said.

Punjab arms policemen with Covid-care kits

The Punjab government has been arming its policemen with Covid-care kits which will have medical gadgets like mask, oximeter besides medicines and an immunity booster to combat the virus, officials said on Sunday. Each kit costs Rs 1,700.

 

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has already announced that to save police personnel from infections, the state will purchase 50,000 corona kits. “Each police officer, including constables and officials at senior levels, will be handed over this kit,” he said as nearly 3,800 police personnel have tested Covid positive.

Five inmates under treatment for Covid-19 in Delhi prisons: Official

Five inmates, who recently arrived in jails in Delhi, have tested positive for Covid-19 and are undergoing treatment, officials said on Sunday.

 

This comes less than a month after the Delhi Prisons Department declared there was no active Covid-19 case among the inmates in its three jail complexes.

 

According to the data shared by the officials, the number of active Covid-19 cases in Delhi Prisons now stands at 25, including 20 jail staff.

Mizoram's lone BJP MLA Budhha Dhan Chakma tests positive for Covid-19

Mizoram's lone BJP legislator Budhha Dhan Chakma has tested positive for Covid-19, official sources said on Sunday. He was among the 35 people who were diagnosed with coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours, they said.

 

Chakma, 47, is the only legislator in Mizoram to have tested positive for Covid-19.

 

"I am very surprised that I have tested positive for Covid-19. But I am asymptomatic and doing very well. Luckily, all my other family members have tested negative," he told PTI.

Uttar Pradesh logs 6,239 fresh Covid-19 cases, 80 deaths; tally at 312,036

Eighty more people died from coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday as 6,239 fresh cases surfaced, taking the infection figures to 3,12,036 in the state. Briefing reporters here, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical and Health) Amit Mohan Prasad said so far, 4,429 people have died from the disease in Uttar Pradesh.

 

The count of active Covid-19 cases in the state stands at 68,122, he said, adding that 6,239 cases were reported on Sunday. Till now, 2,39,485 Covid-19 patients have recovered from the disease, he said.
