India on Thursday reported a second net active case increase in five days, of 1,051 to take the count to 142,562, which is 85.99 per cent lower than the September 18 peak of 1,017,754. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 0.56 per cent (one in 179). The country is 17th among the most affected countries by active cases. India added 12,923 cases to take its total caseload to 10,871,294. And, with 108 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 155,360, or 1.43 per cent of total confirmed infections.
 
With 405,349 more vaccinations across India on Wednesday, the total count of those inoculated reached 7,017,114. The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India, meanwhile, reached 10,573,372 – or 97.26 per cent of total caseload – with 11,764 new cured cases being reported on Thursday.
 
  • With a daily increase of 12,923 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 10,858,371 on Wednesday to 10,871,294 – an increase of 0.1%. Death toll has reached 155,360, with 108 fatalities in a day. Now the seventeenth-most-affected country by active cases, fourth by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 81,111 cases in the past 7 days.
  • India now accounts for 0.56% of all active cases globally (one in every 179 active cases), and 6.57% of all deaths (one in every 15 deaths).
  • India has so far vaccinated 7,017,114 people. That is 64.55 per cent of its total caseload, and 0.5054 per cent of its population.
  • Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 60 days.
  • The count of active cases across India has seen a second net increase in five days, of 1,051 on Thursday, compared with a reduction 2,114 on Wednesday. Five states that have reported the highest net increase in active cases are Maharashtra (1000), Bihar (257), Kerala (217), Delhi (125), and Karnataka (90).
  • Despite 11,764 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has declined marginally to 97.26%, while fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.43%.
  • The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.24%), Maharashtra (2.50%), and Gujarat (2.21%). The rate in as many as 14 is higher than the national average.
  • India’s new daily closed cases stand at 11,872 — 108 deaths and 11,764 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 0.91%.
  • India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.1%.
  • India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 582.8 days, and for deaths at 996.8 days.
  • Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Kerala (5980), Maharashtra (3451), Tamil Nadu (479), Bihar (419), and Karnataka (415).
  • Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (93.03%), Punjab (95.56%), Maharashtra (95.70%), West Bengal (97.45%), and Himachal (97.46%).
  • India on Wednesday conducted 699,185 coronavirus tests to take the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 204,023,840. The test positivity rate recorded was 1.8%.
  • Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (13.58%), Goa (11.59%), Nagaland (9.56%), Kerala (9.55%), and Chandigarh (9.35%).
  • Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Kerala (7.47%), Maharashtra (6.95%), Goa (4.14%), Meghalaya (2.21%), and Lakshadweep (1.29%).
  • Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (571503), J&K (359974), Kerala (293073), Karnataka (268882), and Andhra Pradesh (257040).
  • The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (2052253), Kerala (983374), Karnataka (943627), Andhra Pradesh (888605), and Tamil Nadu (843209).
  • Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 3,451 new cases to take its tally to 2052253. The state has added 25,854 cases in the past 10 days.
  • Kerala, now the second-most-affected state by total tally, has added 5980 cases to take its tally to 983374.
  • Karnataka, the third-most-affected state, has reported 415 cases to take its tally to 943627.
  • Andhra Pradesh has added 50 cases to take its tally to 888605.
  • Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 479 to 843209.
  • Delhi has added 127 cases to take its tally to 636387.
  • Uttar Pradesh has added 161 cases to take its tally to 601723.
