- India now accounts for 12.24% of all active cases globally (one in every 8 active cases), and 9.63% of all deaths (one in every 10).
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in just 12 days.
- The count of active cases across India has seen a net reduction of 7135, against 15064 on Tuesday. The states that have reported the biggest 24-hour jump in active cases are Kerala (3912), Karnataka (3689), Assam (1877), Delhi (401), and Rajasthan (333).
- With 86428 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has improved to 83.33; the fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.57%.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 87,607 — 1179 deaths and 86428 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.35%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 1.4%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 53.3 days, and for deaths at 57 days.
- The states that have seen their respective biggest single-day spikes in total cases are Karnataka (10453), and Rajasthan (2148).
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (14976), Karnataka (10453), Kerala (7354), Andhra Pradesh (6190), and Tamil Nadu (5546).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (66.58%), Chhattisgarh (70.95%), J&K (74.93%), Tripura (76.52%), and Maharashtra (78.26%).
- India on Tuesday conducted 1,086,688 coronavirus tests, and had a test positivity rate of 7.4%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (20.4%), Chandigarh (15.4%), Puducherry (14.65%), Goa (12.97%), and Karnataka (12.34%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Goa (21.77%), Maharashtra (19.8%), Chhattisgarh (18.58%), Chandigarh (16.73%), and Nagaland (14.49%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (152425), J&K (121230), Andhra Pradesh (109817), Assam (98406), and Tamil Nadu (96005).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (1366129), Andhra Pradesh (687351), Karnataka (592911), Tamil Nadu (591943), and Uttar Pradesh (394856).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported a net addition of 14,976 cases. The state has added 178114 cases in the past 10 days.
- Andhra Pradesh, the second-most-affected state by total cases, has added 48,049 cases in the past seven days alone. On Wednesday it added 6190 cases.
- Tamil Nadu, which has seen its tally going up by 5,546, has added more than 5,000 cases on each of the past 70 days.
- Karnataka has reported 10453 cases, its highest in a day so far, to take its tally to 592911.
- Delhi has added 3227 cases to take its tally to 276325.
