The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India now stands at 10,146,763 – or 96.52 per cent of total caseload – with 17,652 new cured cases being reported on Thursday.
- With a daily increase of 16,946 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen 10,495,147 on Wednesday to 10,512,093 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 151,727, with 198 fatalities in a day. Now the thirteenth-most-affected country by active cases, third by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 116,815 cases in the past 7 days.
- India now accounts for 0.87% of all active cases globally (one in every 115 active cases), and 7.64% of all deaths (one in every 13 deaths).
- Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 43 days.
- The count of active cases across India has seen a net reduction of 904, compared with 2,051 on Wednesday. Five states that have reported the highest increase in active cases are Kerala (820), Maharashtra (477), Odisha (39), Telangana (37), an d Punjab (29).
- With 17,652 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has increased to 96.52%, and fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.44%.
- The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.22%), Maharashtra (2.54%), and Gujarat (2.15%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.
- India’s new daily closed cases stand at 17,850 — 198 deaths and 17,652 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.11%.
- India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.2%.
- India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 429.6 days, and for deaths at 530.8 days.
- Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Kerala (6004), Maharashtra (3556), Karnataka (746), West Bengal (723), and Tamil Nadu (673).
- Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Kerala (91.65%), Maharashtra (94.75%), Punjab (95.12%), Gujarat (95.44%), and Madhya Pradesh (95.59%).
- India on Wednesday conducted 743,191 coronavirus tests, taking the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 184,232,305. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.3%.
- Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (14.58%), Goa (12.36%), Chandigarh (10.4%), Nagaland (9.81%), and Kerala (9.58%).
- Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Kerala (8.69%), Maharashtra (5.79%), Goa (4.94%), Nagaland (4.2%), and Chandigarh (2.82%).
- Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (480703), J&K (315447), Kerala (315447), Andhra Pradesh (238243), and Karnataka (237072).
- The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (1978044), Karnataka (929552), Andhra Pradesh (885437), Tamil Nadu (828287), and Kerala (825769).
- Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported 3,556 new cases to take its tally to 1978044. The state has added 35,908 cases in the past 10 days.
- Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 746 cases to take its tally to 929552.
- Andhra Pradesh, the third-most-affected state by total cases, added 203 cases to take its tally to 885437.
- Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 673 to 828287.
- Kerala has added 6004 cases to take its tally to 825769.
- Delhi has added 357 cases to take its tally to 631249.
- Uttar Pradesh has added 466 cases to take its tally to 594641.
