Departures from Mumbai airport were delayed for nearly an hour on Saturday evening following a snag in ground radar. However, there was little impact on arriving planes.
The problem began around 5.30 pm and persisted for about an hour. The snag is believed to have been caused by software malfunction. "Aircraft were landing but there were no departures for nearly 45 minutes. Even arrivals are getting delayed and departures from other airports are being held up because of the radar problem at Mumbai," said an aviation source.
With rain subsiding on Saturday, flight operations in the morning were normal. On Friday four flights were diverted and some were delayed by up to 45 minutes because of heavy rain.
