The venerable Eden Gardens ground will play host to the first ever day-night Test in the country when India take on New Zealand later this year, a senior Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) official confirmed on Thursday.
The Tour Programme and Fixtures Committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced the fixture stating that New Zealand will play three Test matches and five One-Day Internationals here.
The venues for the Test matches are Indore, Kanpur and Kolkata.
"We had written to the BCCI and they have accepted our request. Eden Gardens will host the day-night Test against New Zealand. This is fantastic news," a top CAB official told IANS.
The New Zealand series will be followed by five Test matches, three One-Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals against England.
In total India will be playing 13 Tests in the upcoming season.
