While Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrating Diwali with the 15 Corps troops in North Kashmir along the Line of Control, he took to Twitter on Thursday to wish everyone on the occassion. President Ram Nath Kovind also sent his greetings and urged fellow countrymen to "promote sensitivity to others and to our environment".

On the auspicious occassion, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj also promised medical visas to all those people abroad, including in Pakistan, seeking treatment.

US President Donald Trump's daughter Ivanka wished Indians across the globe adding she was looking forward to her visit to India. She will be in the country next month for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).

In her Diwali message, British Prime Minister Theresa May said the message of the festival of lights that ultimately good will triumph over evil, hope over despair and light over darkness will resonate with people of all faiths and none.
