The Government of Haryana formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Wednesday, to investigate the recent death of two Dalit children in a Ballabhgarh village.

The children, aged two-and-a-half years and eleven months, died after their house was set on fire on Monday.

Seven policemen who were part of a team deployed for the security of Dalits in the village about a year ago after a similar attack, have been suspended.

Only three arrests have been made in the case so far.

The residents of the village had earlier blocked the Faridabad-Ballabhgarh Highway near Delhi in protest against the death. They are demanding the immediate arrest of the accused.

The children's family has said that they will not perform their last rites till all the accused are punished.

A compensation of 10 lakh rupees has been announced for the family by the Haryana Government.
