Heavy showers hit Mumbai right through Thursday night, causing the city to come to a standstill all Friday morning.

Incessant rainfall caused water-logging in many areas, including railway tracks, paralysing the entire city. The suburban railway network - which moves more than 7 million people every day -- screeched to a halt, preventing commuters from getting to work, or for that matter, anywhere else.

Menawhile, heavy water-logging and flooding has been reported at various locations around the city including Dadar, Parel, Byculla, Mazagaon, Mahitmam, Santacruz, Juhu, Vile Parle, Worli, Sion, Chunabhatti, Andheri, Kurla, Borivali, Dahisar, Jogeshwari and other areas preventing movement of road traffic.

However, the rain, while it may have drenched people outdoors, failed to dampen the spirit of the city. Who can, when Twitter is at hand? And so it is that puttnig their anger and concern over this annual inundation aside, Mumbaikars found humour in cyberspace.
