I-T Dept raids premises of soap manufacturing firm

Raids were held at 17 places including factories and four of locations outside Tamil Nadu

The Income Tax officials has conducted raid in various locations related to a soap manufacturing company in Chennai.

According to sources from the Income Tax Department, the raid is held across 10 factories and other locations related to soap manufacturer Power Soaps related to an alleged tax evasion.

Raids were held at 17 places including the factories and four of the locations are outside the State.

Around 250 staff from the Income Tax Department were engaged in raid. The company has allegedly violated the tax regulations, while the details are yet to be revealed.

Company officials were not available for comment.

The company, with its corporate office in Chennai, has manufacturing facility in various places in Tamil Nadu an Puducherry. It is into manufacturing and marketing detergent powder and detergent cake products along with hair care and skin care products, according to available information.
