President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday, while greeting Turkey on its National Day, said the two countries are close because of shared values and historical links.
"I extend warm greetings and felicitations to your excellency and to the friendly people of Turkey on the occasion of your National Day," Mukherjee said in the message to his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"India and Turkey have enjoyed traditionally close relations based on shared values and historical linkages," he said.
"India is committed to strengthening and expanding our bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of our two peoples."
Turkey celebrates its National Day on October 29.
