ITAT V-P booked for amassing disproportionate assets by CBI

Searches were carried out at two places in Bangalore and Mumbai during which incriminating documents were seized

CBI has registered a case against G E Veerabhadrappa, Vice President, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Mumbai, alleging that he amassed disproportionate assets worth Rs 3.92 crore.
 
After registering a case against him, searches were carried out at two places in Bangalore and Mumbai during which incriminating documents were seized by the agency, CBI sources said.
 
The sources said the agency has also registered at least two separate cases as well against the members of Income Tax Appellate Tribunal in different parts of the country but did not reveal details as it may affect its ongoing probe.

The sources said Veerabhadrappa was booked under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
 
"The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against Vice-President, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Mumbai U/s.13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of the Prevention of Corruption Act-1988 for possession of alleged assets to the tune of Rs.3.92 crores(approx) which was disproportionate to his known sources of income," CBI spokesperson said here today.
