Jaitley to conclude BRICS seminar discussing challenges in developing a bond market

The seminar will provide a platform to share the best practices followed by the member nations- Brazil Russia, India, China and South Africa- and help exploring practices that can be adopted to develop the bond market

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will deliver the valedictory address at a one-day BRICS seminar that will discuss the challenges faced by the region in the development of a bond market and is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on September 27.

The seminar that is titled "Challenges in Developing the Bond market in BRICS"  is being organised by the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA) in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

The seminar will provide a platform to share the best practices followed by the member nations- Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa- and help exploring practices that can be adopted to develop the bond market.

Shaktikanta Das, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), U.K. Sinha, Chairman SEBI, R Gandhi, Deputy Governor, RBI and experts from BRICS nations, multilateral organizations, financial institutions and corporate sector will also speak at the seminar.

India has assumed the Chairmanship of BRICS during the year 2016.

Building responsive, inclusive and collective solutions is the core-theme of the BRICS regional group, with a special focus on institution-building, implementing past commitments, and exploring innovative solutions.

A key agenda is to foster cooperation among BRICS in the development of financial markets.
