Adversaries with 'hegemonic' designs try altering status quo under false pretexts, but the Indian Army must and will stand up to all external and internal threats, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lt General Chandi Prasad Mohanty said on Saturday.

More than a million people in the US may not have regained the sense of smell months after Covid-19 infection, finds a new study.
The study, published in the journal JAMA Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, estimated that between 7,00,000 and 1.6 million people in the US who had Covid-19 have lost or had a change in their sense of smell that has lasted for more than six months.

India administered 51,59,931 COVID-19 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry informed on Saturday.
With this, the cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the country has exceeded 115.79 crore.
"As many as 1,15,79,69,274 vaccine doses of vaccines have been administrated as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 1,19,13,371 sessions," the statement issued by the Union Health Ministry said.

Over 1.29 billion Coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine doses have been provided to states and Union Territories so far through free of cost channel and through direct state procurement category, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
More than 216.5 million balance and unutilized Covid-19 vaccine doses are still available with the states and Union Territories, it said.
The ministry asserted that the Union government was committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country.

Travellers who are fully vaccinated with the shots from Sinopharm, Sinovac and Covaxin will be allowed to enter Canada starting November 30, the Canadian government said.
Currently, Canada only accepts travellers who have received the vaccines, including Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Johnson and Johnson.
Also starting November 30, people leaving Canada by land or by air for less than 72 hours will no longer be required to provide proof of a negative molecular test to re-enter the country, Xinhua news agency reported.

Nine more cases of dengue have been reported in the district in last one day, the district Chief Medical Officer MS Faujdar said on Friday.
The new cases took the total tally of dengue incidents in the district to 262.
A total of 135 cases of these cases have been detected in November alone.

A new study published in the journal Science has claimed that the first identified Covid-19 case -- or 'patient zero' -- was a female seafood vendor at an animal market in the Chinese city of Wuhan and who became symptomatic on December 11, 2019.
The peer-reviewed study contradicts earlier reported findings that the first Covid patient was a 41-year-old male accountant, who lived 30 km south of Huanan Market, and reported his illness on December 8.
However, when interviewed, the accountant reported that his Covid symptoms started with a fever on December 16 and the December 8 illness was a dental problem related to baby teeth retained into adulthood.

Ladakh reported 28 new cases of COVID-19 in last one day, pushing the overall tally to 21,298, officials said on Saturday.
Of 224 active cases in the Union Territory, Leh has 216 and Kargil eight, the officials said.
Out of 2069 tests conducted on Friday, 27 returned positive in Leh and one in Kargil, they said.

The national capital's air quality was in the 'very poor' category on Saturday but is predicted to improve significantly from Sunday owing to relatively strong winds.
Delhi's air quality index (AQI) at 9 am on Saturday was 377. It was slightly better on Friday when the AQI was 370, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data.
The city recorded a minimum temperature of 14.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Thane district of Maharashtra reported 113 new coronavirus positive cases, which increased its infection count to 5,68,253, an official said on Saturday.
These new cases were reported on Friday, he said.
As the virus claimed the lives of three persons, the death toll in the district rose to 11,569.
