In a first reaction on the indictment of former minister Amit Shah by the CBI in the 2006 Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has lashed out central agency accusing it of being 'hostile' towards the state.

Inaugurating the newly-built civic centre for Nadiad town yesterday Modi challenged the Union government to compete with Gujarat on the front of development rather than playing ‘CBI games’.

"Central agencies like CBI and Income Tax make hostile treatment with Gujarat. But no matter how much injustice the Delhi sultanate cause to Gujarat, it will not succeed in downing Gujarat," Modi said.

This was the first reaction by the Chief Minister on the CBI chargesheet filed against Shah and 19 others including senior IPS officers for their alleged roles in the fake encounter of Tulsiram Prajapati.

Among the top cops name in the chargesheet include former state DGP P C Pande, former Ahmedabad police commissioner O P Mathur, IG Geetha Johri and Dy SP R K Patel who have been charged for criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence.

"Delhi Sultanate is treating Gujarat like an enemy nation but come what may, Gujarat will never bow to their injustice," Modi stated.

Taking a dig at UPA government in the Centre, Modi said, "The government in Centre is like an engine without a driver. Their past practice has been of inducing enmity in the name of castes and creeds. But our route is that of peace and unity."

It is good that the people of Gujarat has expelled them from power many years back, otherwise they must have put Gujarat in a pitiful state by now, he added.

Modi further accused them of spreading falsehood. "People who gave empty promise of making Gandhiji’s dandi-kuch path as the heritage path, are deceiving Gandhiji too, than to want extent they can go to deceive public. People must recognize these people and their falsehood," Modi said.

The chief minister also lambasted the Gujarat Congress for objecting to a BJP party advertisement alleging injustice to the state. ""Why the advertisement related to the Centre’s injustice towards Gujarat make them woozy?" he questioned. A petition, which has been backed by the Congress party, was filed in the Gujarat High Court last, seeking ban on the BJP advertisement.
