MP to recruit 5,000 policemen in last phase of four-year drive

With this latest round, the force would have added 21,000 heads during the past four years

In order to strengthen the police force in the state further, the Madhya Pradesh government today announced the last phase of massive recruitment drive that commence four years ago. The state cabinet today approved recruitment of another 5,000 police personnel under different cadres. With this drive, the state has augmented the police force by 21,000 personnel.

Of these 5,000 personnel, 1,876 will be constables, 1,015 will be head constables, and 581 assistant will be sub-inspectors. The state also plans to recruit law officers, stenographers and other clerical staff.

"The state cabinet has also sanctioned two posts of deputy inspector general of police in Jail, one posts of superintendent in Central jail among other posts of class-II and class-IV rank staff in jail department," Narottam Mishra, government spokesperson and cabinet colleague of Shivraj Singh Chouhan today said.

To promote tourism activities, the state had launched the drive in 2011 to strengthen the police force. State cabinet also endorsed aero sports activities on twenty state-owned airstrips; Neemuch, Ratlam, Khargone, Khandwa, Shivpuri, Guna, Tekanpur, Sagar(Dhana), Satna, Sidhi, Rewa, Chhindwara, Ujjain (Datana), Jhabua, Birwa (Balaghat), Pachmarhi, Umaria, Seoni, Mandla and Datia (under construction).

Besides, the cabinet sanctioned 17 new posts and providing 24 posts through rationalization in the setup of other offices for the office of deputy commissioner cooperatives (administration) and office of the deputy registrar, cooperative societies, assistant commissioner(audit) and assistant registrar cooperative societies in newly constituted Agar-Malwa district.
