NCW chairperson Mamata Sharma yesterday visited the relief camps in the riot-hit district to take stock of the situation.
During her visit, she found 138 expecting women refugees living in the rehabilitation camps, officials said.
After visiting the camps, Sharma asked the authorities concerned to take proper care of the pregnant women refugees.
She appealed to girls living in the affected areas to attend schools without any fear and also assured them that they will be provided protection.
Sharma said parents should not stop their girls from going to schools.
The communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas claimed 47 lives and displaced over 40,000 people.
