Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy today said the state government had decided to set up a third IT park in the state at Mulankunnathkavu near Thrissur.

The government has identified 12 acres , currently with Keltron at Mulankunnathkavu, for developing the park.

Inaugurating the chief minister mass contact programme at Thrissur today, Chandy said the government planned to establish a mobility hub at Puzhakkal in Thrissur district, similar to the one established in Kochi.

He said orders would soon be issued to hand over 9.58 acre at Puzhakkal to begin works. It must be noted the state government had already formed Thrissur Mobility Society for implementing the project.

Chandy also announced a slew of development initiatives in the central district, including a flyover in Padinjarekotta and a railway bridge at Choondal-Guruvayur, both meant for de-congesting the road traffic. Tender for works on Guruvayur railway overbridge with an estimated Rs 120 crore would soon be called, he added.

Also, the existing Diwanji-Moola railway overbridge would be demolished and a new bridge would be constructed with a width of 25 metres.

The project, estimated to cost Rs 6.5 crore, would be fully-funded by the Thrissur Corporation.

The government plans to include developing the Mannuthy-Mundur bypass road in the proposed speed project. Related construction works would be started in the Mannuthy-Viyyur area, where there was no need for land acquisition, he said.

The chief minister said a detailed study report had been prepared for regenerating the traditional tile manufacturing industry in Thrissur district.

Besides, a committee would be constituted to protect the natural habitat in the district.
