NEWSALERT: Krishna moves SC for quashing criminal case over illegal mining

External affairs minister S M Krishna has moved the Supreme Court for quashing a criminal complaint against him for dereserving forest land in ecologically fragile zones, during his tenure as Chief Minister of Karnataka between 1999 and 2004.

The Lokayukta Police had filed a first-information report (FIR) against the minister in December 2011, based on a private complaint regarding the dereservation in mineral-rich areas.
