A total of 10 train services operating in northern India will remain cancelled for over a month starting Dec 28 in view of the dense fog cover that envelopes the region during the winter, the northern railways announced Sunday.
The trains will cease to operate between Dec 28 and 30 and will return to service between Feb 15 and 17.
"This year northern railway has planned to cancel 10 express trains/passenger mails to avoid passenger inconvenience during the (foggy) period," said a statement.
"The foggy conditions pose a great challenge to the railways, especially in the northern region of the country, in terms of operations and safety," added the statement.
