Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off 'run for unity' on Saturday at Rajpath here on the occasion of 140th birth anniversary of country's first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

Special arrangements are being made by the government for the event which will be attended by the Prime Minister, official sources said.

Anti-sabotage checks will be done on government offices situated around Rajpath ahead of the event. The office buildings in the area will have to be vacated after working hours on October 30, so that rooms are sealed after regular anti-sabotage checks are completed, a government communique to all ministries said.

The buildings to be closed include South Block, North Block, Rail Bhawan, CSIR Building, Krishi Bhawan, Shastri Bhawan, National Archives and Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, among others.

National Media Centre, Niti Aayog, RBI, Sardar Patel Bhawan, Shram Shakti Bhawan, Hutment (MOD Office), Dalhousie Road and on Krishna Menon Marg, DRDO Bhawan, Vayu Bhawan, Sena Bhawan, Udyog Bhawan, Nirman Bhawan, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan and National Museum, among others will also be closed, it said.

These office buildings would be closed tomorrow after working hours until 0930 hrs on Saturday, the order said.

The Prime Minister had last year dedicated the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, also known as 'Iron Man of India', as 'National Unity Day'.
