On October 25, Modi had interacted with editors and other journalists at a post-Diwali event, organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In a free-wheeling conversation that lasted around 90 minutes, the prime minister is learnt to have replied to questions on various subjects at the meeting over tea and snacks.
Those present were Malini Parthasarathy, editor of The Hindu; Shekhar Gupta, editorial advisor to India Today group; Prabhu Chawla, editorial director at The New Indian Express; Jaideep Bose, editor-in-chief of The Times of India; Raj Kamal Jha, chief editor of Indian Express; Sanjoy Narayan, editor-in-chief of Hindustan Times; and M D Nalapat, editorial director of The Sunday Guardian. Editors contacted after the meeting refused to talk, as the interaction was “off the record’’.
The PM met journalists for the first time after assuming office on October 25. He had then said he would take time out to interact regularly with the media. Last month’s meeting was at the BJP headquarters in the capital.
