Aayush Rai and Varun AV met at Siemens and bonded over their shared passion- addressing tech problems. They soon set up Samplytics, a startup which focused on building a medical test platform. What set them apart from every other platform was that their platform would enable a person to do multiple diagnostic tests.
Their first test 'Inito' measures fertility hormones in urine to help couples conceive naturally. It is a single device that can read multiple medical test strips. It lets one find up to 6 fertility days every cycle by measuring the hormones in urine.
The device works on two hormones - estrogen and luteinizing hormone (LH) in urine. The test is available through an app, a compact 'reader' and test strips. The app tells the user when to take the test, simple instructions like dip the strine in urine, insert it in into the reader etc. It takes about five minutes to read the results.The smartphone's camera is allowed to take calibrated images of medical test strips. This image data is processed to get the value of the test which is pushed to its servers. The servers store all the user data and run analytics on this data to help people achieve their health goals.
Inito is different than ovulation kits as the kits need to be interpreted and monitored closely which leads to a lot of incorrect results, confusion and anxiety. Also, they measure only one hormone giving only two fertility days. This device monitors two key fertility hormones in urine, which gives the best accuracy and upto 6 fertile days.
A blood sugar test also has a similar strip with a small hole for a blood sample.
The founders keep updating the app and adding new tests to keep the app up-to-date and to also make it available across various phone models.
The device is priced at Rs 4,699 which includes the fertility monitor and eight test strips. A pack of eight strips costs about Rs 1,150.
Inito has won the CII Design Excellence Award 2016 in both the healthcare category and industrial design.
The startup has so far raised about $1 million from angel investors and is looking to come up with solutions to monitor diabetes, thyroid and Vitamin-D over the next six-eight months.
