Indian rapper Sofia Ashraf’s new video ‘Kodaikanal Won't Step Down’, which takes on FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever for its practice of allegedly dumping toxic mercury waste in the area, is taking the internet by storm.

In her video, set to the tune of Nicky Minaj’s popular hit ‘Anaconda’, Ashraf attacks HUL for failing to clean up the contamination it has caused. She also raps the company for the damage caused to its workers who have been affected by the thermometer manufacturing unit, which the company closed 14 years ago in 2001.

Ashraf makes the video more memorable with her jugglery of words. From fake PSAs and Pepsodent smiles to Lifebuoy and Fair and Lovely – all HUL products – she diligently portrays how Unilever is not taking responsibility for its actions.

With more than a million views on YouTube, the video has become a viral hit among social media users after NGO Jhatkaa released it on July 30.

On June 29 ex-workers of the thermometer factory staged a protest at the Hindustan Unilever's headquarters in Mumbai at this years’ Annual General Meeting.
