TN completes 218 schemes from the planned 666

Tamil Nadu chief minister O Panneerselvam said the state government had been able to fully implement 218 schemes, while 317 schemes were under various stages.

The state government had initially promised to implement a total 666 schemes.

The chief minister stated them in a reply to the calling attention motion in the state Assembly on a complaint that the schemes announced by the previous CM, Jayalalithaa, remain on the paper and were not being implemented.

He added the state government had to issue orders for 121 schemes, while eight schemes were pending with the central government and two schemes have not been taken up for implementation since the matters were pending in the court.

According to the chief minister, works were under progress for constructing a satellite township in Thirumisai with 12,000 apartments with an outlay of Rs 2,160 crore, and the government was also planning to construct 554 residential apartments at a cost of around Rs 100 crore.

The state government had issued orders for a housing project with a total outlay of Rs 918 crore in nine districts.

The chief minister said of the 12 MoUs signed in November 2012 for attracting an investment of Rs 20,975 crore, a sum of Rs 6,203.85 crore has been invested by these companies so far.

This is the first time Pannerselvam was addressing the Assembly after taking over as chief minister .
