In a mega event that will commemorate Modi government's two years in power, the Centre will kick off the fortnight-long celebrations across the country from today.

The event will begin with a rally from the Prime Minister at UP's Saharanpur later in the day, where he is said to highlight the achievements of the government; a move seen as a precursor to the Party's focus to win elections in Uttar Pradesh assembly next year. A song titled, Mera desh badh raha hai, aagey badh raha hai, was also released keeping in mind the purpose of the event.

Here is a gist of what is on the cards in the celebrations of the two-year anniversary.

Vikas Parv

A programme that will highlight the work of the Modi government will be conducted on a pan-India basis. The Party will carry out the event in 158 cities in the country, which would include press conferences, rallies, along with holding meetings with several people. The Gujarat government will also participate in this event, as it completes its two-year rule as well.

Rally at Uttar Pradesh

The Prime Minister will kick off Vikas Parv by addressing a rally at Saharanpur, where he will be highlighting the government's achievements as well. He is also expected to address a rally at his constituency, Varanasi.

Star-studded evening

On Saturday (May 28), the celebrations will shift to New Delhi, where India Gate will witness a star-studded evening, with personalities from the film industry participating in the event. The five-hour programme will begin at 5 pm. Actor Amitabh Bachchan will be hosting the event.  Anupam Kher, Madhur Bhandarkar, Prasoon Joshi, Juhi Chawla, and Kajol will also attend the programme. The event, to be titled Badhtey Kadam will be broadcast on Doordarshan.

Sweetening the impact

BJP leader Vijay Goel is specially getting a 731 kg laddoo made by sweet shops in Old Delhi. The reason for the number is to commemorate 731 days of the government in power and this would be a 'prasad' for that, according to this Catch News report.
