Union Minister Mahesh Sharma suspends security officer for thrashing guards

The security staff thrashed two local guards at a housing society soon after the minister's vehicle passed

In a shocking incident of criminal misconduct, a CCTV footage released by news agency ANI revealed Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma's security staff thrashing guards at a Ghaziabad housing society on Thursday.

According to reports, the incident took place as Sharma's VVIP security personnel perceived a delay in opening the housing society gates for his convoy to pass through.

The minister is reported to have acted promptly when the incident was brought to his notice. He apologised to the guard and suspended the security guard.

"When I came to know about the incident, without finding out who is guilty I apologised to society guard. I have also suspended my security guard and have asked the Police to probe the incident," Sharma told ANI. 

"There were about five vehicles. We told them to wait for two minutes after which the mantri's bodyguard started beating us," one of the guards told ANI.

"All three of us security guards were brutally beaten up by the bodyguardm," he added. 

The video shows that soon after minister's car passed, a member of the security staff gets into a conversation with one of the guards and thrashes him repeatedly. He then turns his attention towards another guard who tried to intervene.
Although the minister claims to have apologised to the guard, but nowhere in the footage he is seen moving out of his car. The incident has enraged the residents of the society who are planning to file a police complaint.
