UP to launch entrepreneur helpline

Uttar Pradesh government has announced the setting up of a 24x7 call centre to redress the grievances of entrepreneurs.

The helpline would be set up at Udyog Bandhu (UP industry interface) in Lucknow to resolve urgent issues of the industry.

"The call centre would also be connected to the state home department for swift response over law and order issues pertaining to industrial units in UP," state infrastructure and industrial development principal secretary Surya Pratap Singh said.

He has been camping in New Delhi for 'Invest North 2013', the investment conclave of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), wherein UP is a participant state.

UP has received investment proposals in information technology (IT) and ITeS, electronics, warehousing, logistics, education and auto ancillary sectors.

Interested firms include LG International, Oracle, Hind Terminals, India Electronics and Semiconductor Association, Delphi, and PTC Industries among others.

Samsung is mulling expanding its manufacturing unit with $100 million investment in Noida. Autometers Alliance Limited envisages an investment to the tune of Rs 500 crore and advanced technology transfer related to railroad and multi-modal rapid transit sector.

Official sources said Hind Terminals enquired about land availability for developing logistics and warehouses in Moradabad and Kanpur with estimated investment of Rs 300 crore.

Oracle has proposed to impart technical training and software development knowledge at school, vocational and technical education institutions with distinct modules aimed at different levels across the state. It was agreed a pilot project might be launched in schools and universities in Noida and Greater Noida soon.

India Electronics and Semiconductor Association expressed willingness to develop an electronics park in UP after applying for central grant.

The two-day meet was attended by 500 delegates, including Indian and foreign business associations and diplomats of several foreign countries.
