 "Victim of Section 66A, Puducherry businessman feels happy today")
Businessman and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP's) representative from Puducherry R Ravi Srinivasan heaved a sigh or relief as the Supreme Court struck down Section 66A of the IT Act on Tuesday.
45-year old Srinivasan was booked in 2012 under the Section on a complaint by Karti P Chidambaram, son of former Union Finance Minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram.
The allegation against him was that he posted offending messages on Twitter. The 'offending' tweet referred to reports about Karti Chidambaram and Robert Vadra in newspapers.
CID of Puducherry police arrested him in an early morning on October 2012 from his house and booked him under Section 66 A of the IT Act on a complaint made by Karti Chidambaram.
On the same day evening he was let out on bail but the case against him is still pending and next hearing is expected to be in the coming week.
He is hoping that with the Supreme Court striking down the provision of the IT act as unconstitutional, the case against him would get infructuous and he hopes that he would be free from the harassment.
