Though Congress candidates were trailing in most of the Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Orissa, state Congress today said it did not suspect any foul play as of now.

"We are still hopeful. There is no reason to suspect the trend received so far", OPCC president K P Singhdeo told PTI adding, he respected the people's verdict.

Stating that he was still hopeful of performing well, Singhdeo said the people were the final judge to decide. "If they vote for BJD, we have no objection", he said.

Of the trends available from 113 of the 147 seats, Congress candidates were leading in only 22 assembly seats while the ruling BJD candidates were ahead of their rivals in 78.

The BJP candidates were leading in only seven assembly seats while NCP candidates were doing well in two seats followed by CPI in one. Independents were leading in three seats.

Similarly, the Lok Sabha election trend available so far, Congress was leading only in six seats while BJD candidates were ahead in 14 seats. CPI was leading in one Lok Sabha seat.

Congress candidate from Balasore Lok Sabha seat Srikant Jena was leading over his nearest BJP rival M A Kharabela Swain.
