16 companies show interest for consultancy services of DFC project

Sixteen joint ventures of international companies with Indian partners have shown willingness to participate in Expression of Interest process for the Project Management Consultancy Services contract for the second phase of Eastern Corridor. The phase covers 402 kilometers between Bhaupur to Mughalsarai.

Some of the JVs that participated are PS DIGITECH-HR (India) Pvt.Ltd. SYSTRA SA, Bernard Ingenieure (Austria)-Obermeyer Plannen+Beraten(Germany)-Actes, Bernard (Austria) in association with Bernard  Engineers India.

The project management consultant will assist Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India to review the preliminary, definitive  design, contract management , construction supervision, review of contractors’ documents along with Contractor Safety plan and Environmental management plan.

The World Bank is funding part of the Eastern Corridor project from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana, which has been divided into 3 phases.

The total in principle loan commitment is $ 2.725 billion, out of which the loan for the first phase to the tune of $975 million was sanctioned in May, 2011 and the loan agreement was signed in October, 2011. The loan for the second phase is expected to be of the order of $1100 million.
