A record 82% turn out registered in Sikkim

A record 82.1% electorate exercised its franchise in the assembly and parliamentary polls in Sikkim, a state election department official said today.     

The voters' turn out at yesterday's polling for 32 assembly seats and the lone Lok Sabha constituency has been an estimated 82.10%, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer (ACEO) DK Pradhan told PTI here.     

Poklok-Kamrang assembly constituency from where the Chief Minister and the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) president Pawan Kumar Chamling is seeking a sixth-term in the state legislature polled 85.21% votes, while another constituency Namchi-Singhithang having Chamling in the fray polled 74.33 %.
