Accenture India with interests in management consulting, technology and outsourcing, is keen to partner Centurion University of Technology & Management-Orissa in the area of skill development.

"In developed countries, the services sector contributes around 70 per cent to the GDP while in Asia the sector accounts for 50 per cent of the GDP. India's maximum focus has to be on the services sector. Orissa has potential to be one of the high performing states in the country in the services sector. What is needed is an orientation towards skill development. We are going to partner Centurion University in skill development,” Avinash Vashishta, chairman and country managing director, Accenture India, told reporters after emerging out of a meeting with Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Commenting on the partnership, Mukti Mishra, chairman, Centurion University of Technology & Management said, “We are already carrying out skill development programmes in collaboration with National Skills Development Corporation (NSDC). Accenture will help us to scale up the programme further. The company will facilitate industry linkages and help organize industry workshops at our campus. It will be a holistic partnership wherein Accenture will also fund some of the skill development programmes under its CSR (corporate social responsibility) initiative.”

Skill development apart, Accenture is also interested in partnering the Orissa government in the area of mobile e-governance.

“We have already offered some mobile commerce solutions to the governments of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The company will also be keen to extend its services to Orissa,” said Vashihsta.
