Following the successful completion of its first year of operations to the Gulf region, Air India Express, the country's no-frills airline, has charted out plans to start services to Bahrain and Doha from Thiruvananthapuram. The services are expected to begin soon.
 
The airline, which was launched on April 29 last year, had its inaugural flight on the Thiruvananthapuram"�Abu Dhabi sector. Air India Express has been expanding its network since then.
 
The airline has also announced plans to increase weekly flights to 73 from the current 42. Air India Express had begun operations last year with three leased Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
 
The airline has been operating from five airports and has services to six destinations in the Gulf. A year later, it now boasts of five aircraft.
 
The airline today operates flights from Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Mumbai and Delhi to Gulf destinations like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain, Muscat, Salalah and Sharjah.
