About 561 candidates are left in the fray for elections to 60 wards of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation, polling of which would be held on April 27. Two hundred-and-two candidates, mostly Independents and covering candidates of different political parties, wrote their names off the contest on the last day of withdrawal yesterday. Prominent among those who withdrew are former mayor and independent MLA, O P Soni, who was given a ticket by the Congress.
