The steel maker is also offering to design, technically support and build a new earthquake resistant school for the Sichuan region which was hit by earthquake on May 12.
ArcelorMittal China and its employees donated RMB 160,000, complemented by a RMB 900,000 donation from the ArcelorMittal Foundation. This represents a total of RMB 10,60,000, the firm said in a statement.
Further, ArcelorMittal China has also encouraged its employees to donate blood to support the relief work.
"On behalf of ArcelorMittal, I would like to express my deepest sympathies to all the people affected by this tragedy. As a responsible corporate citizen, ArcelorMittal is committed to offering further support to the Sichuan region for the reconstruction effort," the firm's Chairman and CEO Lakshmi Mittal said.
